Q4. How important is sustainability to you
Sustainability is very important. Personally, I believe that the move of achieving shipping sustainability (the low-carbon transition of the shipping industry) will encounter various challenges but at the same time it also creates unique opportunities. This transition not only tackles climate change, but also leads to the achievement of carbon neutrality goals. And it might make shipping one of the leading industries in climate innovation. We’ll build green fuel infrastructure to assist other industries in achieving emission reduction targets. We’ll also put efforts in improving air quality, reducing human health risks caused by shipping pollution, and in creating employment in new fuel supply chains. Additionally, the decarbonization of the shipping industry is not just a desire but a necessary condition for achieving green shipping. We could also make great contribution in tackling global climate change through investing in cleaner fuels such as liquefied natural gas, methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen, exploring renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power.
As members of Columbia Group, we’ll follow strictly CSM’s energy efficiency plan to be at the forefront of energy saving and emission reduction.
