- Overall responsibility for the operational management of the managed fleet.
- Manages the Operations Department, including Vessel Managers
- Develops and implements operational strategies to ensure continuous operations of the fleet, resolving any operational issues with the Head of Technical and the Head of Marine and Port Operations and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Collaborates with the Head of Technical and Head of Marine and Port Operations to ensure effective coordination between technical and operational functions.
- Monitors industry trends, market dynamics, and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement in operational performance.
- Approve and manages fleet operational budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures in collaboration with vessel manager and Commercial Department
- Implements and maintains operational policies, procedures, and standards as per company safety management system.
- Staff Management and Training:
- Recruit, train, and manage a diverse team of onshore personnel.
- Monitor ship schedules, itineraries, and port activities to ensure efficient operations as applicable.
- Monitor and manage fuel consumption to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the shipboard management teams.
- Conduct performance evaluations, address concerns, and motivate the team
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Prepare and manage budgets for fleet operations, maintenance, and crewing in collaboration with the Head of Departments.
- Monitor operational and capital expenses, to ensure budget targets are met
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to improve profitability.
- Stay up to date with international maritime regulations and industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and environmental regulations.
- Implement corrective actions and continuously improve safety and compliance standards.
- Emergency response team leader during emergency response cases and active part of the emergency response team
- Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in maritime studies, business administration, logistics, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience out at sea to a level of Master Mariner or Chief Engineer
- Proven experience in fleet management, preferably in the cruise ship industry.
- In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations and industry best practices.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in data analysis and budgeting.
- Familiarity with ship maintenance and technical operations is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to handle emergency situations and make quick decisions
- Collaborating with shipboard personnel and authorized Service suppliers on matters relating to functionality and reliability of, Life Saving Appliances, Fire Fighting Equipment, by monitoring PMS.
- Collaborating with Technical Department and Safety Officer for keeping LSA Plan, FCP and SFP Plan updated
- Planning, performing and following up on regular as well as occasional Marine & Safety inspections, providing reports upon their completion and ensuring that any issues which do not fully comply with industry regulations and recommendations are dealt with;
- Maintaining Budgets for the assigned ship and scope;
- Providing personnel acting as Company Emergency Phone Holder on a rotatory basis and participating in Company Emergency Management;
- Collaborating with Crewing department by conducting employment/promotion interviews, (de)briefings and appraisals of Safety Officers;
- Sailed as Safety Officer onboard a reputed cruise lin
- Have previous experience dealing with upkeep and maintenance of LSA and FFA
- Holding a Master Mariner license preferred
- Previous Shore Experience working with LSA and FFA preferred
- Clear articulate communicator with good negotiation and presentation skills, fluent in English
- Track record of being able to meet tight deadlines in a pressurized environment.

- Supporting the Masters in applying bridge procedures and occupational safety standards in line with regulatory and Company policies;
- Monitoring validity of the vessels certification and ensuring readiness for third party inspections at any time;
- Conducting regular Marine & Safety inspection and Internal Audits ensuring that the Company Management System, Policies, standards and procedures are effectively implemented on allocated vessels;
- Liaising and follow up with all parties to ensure that issues raised during Vessel’s inspections and Audits have been followed up and dealt with;
- Reviewing HSE Committee meetings and encouraging a robust occupational health and safety culture as well as environmental awareness within the fleet;
- Supporting the fleet with preparation and execution of Emergency exercises and Drills;
- Participating in Risk Management processes;
- Participating in investigation of the incidents, accidents and hazardous occurrences. Monitoring the follow up and implementation of the preventive and corrective actions.
- Not less than two years in position of the Master or Senior Deck Officer on a passenger and / or Expedition ship;
- Good practical knowledge of the Cruise and / or Expedition sectors of the industry;
- Good knowledge of international rules and regulations and industry guidelines and recommendations;
- Good leadership , controlling and communication skills as well as the ability to work within a team;
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of the cruise ships, including itinerary planning, scheduling, and optimization of onboard services. Ensure smooth embarkation and disembarkation processes, efficient use of resources, and timely adherence to port schedules.
- Guest Experience: Maintain a high standard of guest satisfaction by overseeing the quality of onboard services, including accommodations, dining, entertainment, activities, and customer service. Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance the overall guest experience.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant maritime regulations, international conventions, and cruise industry standards for safety, security, and environmental protection. Develop and implement comprehensive safety management systems and procedures to protect the safety and well-being of guests and crew members.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and management of the onboard crew, including hospitality, entertainment, culinary, housekeeping, and technical staff. Maintain crew records, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with labor laws, safety training, and certification requirements.
- Collaborate with technical and engineering teams to ensure the proper maintenance, repair, and operation of ship systems, machinery, and equipment. Develop and implement planned maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and efficiency of onboard systems.
- Prepare and manage the vessel budget, including forecasting and cost control for onboard operations, supplies, maintenance, and crewing. Monitor expenses and revenue streams to maximize profitability while maintaining high service standards.
- Liaise with port authorities, regulatory bodies, suppliers, travel agents, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and contractual obligations. Maintain positive relationships and address any issues or disputes that may arise.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios, including medical emergencies, natural disasters, and security threats. Conduct regular drills and training to ensure preparedness of the crew and guests.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation related to vessel operations, safety, crewing, maintenance, and compliance. Prepare reports on vessel performance, incidents, guest satisfaction, and other relevant metrics. Ensure timely and accurate submission of regulatory reports and documentation.
- Stay updated on industry trends, guest preferences, technological advancements, and regulatory changes in the cruise industry. Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and service enhancements to provide an exceptional guest experience and maintain a competitive edge.
